Things get U.G.L.Y at Carina Leagues Club

Staff at The Carina Leagues Club recently got behind the Leukaemia Foundation’s U.G.L.Y. Bartender of the Year campaign, inspired to help out after someone close to the club was diagnosed with blood cancer.

Their U.G.L.Y. Bartender this year is Katherine Ward (fourth from left), she said it had been a huge, whole staff effort to support the campaign in their venue this year.

“We have been lucky to have generous support from our members and suppliers, not to mention the amazing enthusiasm, energy and passion shown by our team.”

The entire Carina Leagues Club family has a strong passion for giving back to the community.

Fourteen fellow team members even shaved their heads as the Grand Finale of the campaign – five girls and nine guys – in front of a huge crowd of Carina Leagues Club supporters.

“I was blown away by the number we had attend the shave on the weekend, including so many staff who were on their days off” Katherine said.

The club is a large, busy venue with a vibrant community who have all come together to support the U.G.L.Y. Bartender of the Year campaign. They initially set an optimistic goal of $25,000 but have blown that out of the water this week reaching an amazing $35,000!

“It has really been a team effort, we never thought we would be able to raise this much, hopefully it is enough to really make a difference to someone in their time of need” Katherine said.

The Leukaemia Foundations U.G.L.Y Bartender of the Year is open for registrations now and you can sign up or find out more information at www.uglybartender.com
