A Perth pub is selling pints for $2.99.

The Stirling Arms in Guilford is offering German Beer Uber Lager at $2.99 per pint during January to customers who sigh up to its free loyalty program.

Owner Brendan Craig told The Midland Reporter it was the cheapest beer he’d seen in his lifetime, while one customer told him it was the cheapest pint he’d seen since the ’70s.

“We are saying enough is enough to $12 pints and we are offering loyal customers a pint for $2.99,” he explained. 

“We are fortunate that we have smaller margins than some other venues, so we’d be silly not to pass on the savings to customers.”

He added to The West Australian: “We have had people literally queuing up before opening time. It’s clearly what people want. Other establishments would do well to listen.”

Craig is in talks with a local brewery to extend the $2.99 offer to include a locally produced beer in the near future.

At the other end of the spectrum, the Keg and Brew Hotel in Surry Hills, Sydney, was selling 285ml middys of both a Melvin Brewing Indian Pale Ale and a Three Weavers stout for $15 during last year’s Sydney Craft beer month.
