Have your say on craft beer & spirits skills standards

Skills Impact is looking to consult with the Australian drinks industry on developing skills standards and qualifications to support the sector for the long-term.

Qualifications and skill standards for artisanal beverage processing are being reviewed and developed as part of a national project, funded by the Australian Department of Education and Training.

According to Skills Impact, the recent popularity of artisanal beer, cider, distilled spirits and other beverages and foods has exposed skills gaps in national vocational qualifications, skill sets and units of competency.

Skills Impact is a national not-for-profit Skills Service Organisation contracted by the Commonwealth Government. It works in collaboration with industry, government and training providers, to review and develop units of competency, skill sets and qualifications, for use by industry and the vocational training and education sector.
Its Artisanal Food and Beverage Project will look at the skills and knowledge requirements in these unique sectors to identify and fill gaps.

Initial development work on this project has begun. A series of consultation workshops and webinars will take place in February to gather feedback on the draft qualifications, skill sets and units.

If you work in an artisanal beverage workplace, Skills impact is keen for your opinion on whether the documents properly describe your rob role and skills.

The workshops are free to attend, and are taking place in various locations around Australia.
