The Court of Master Sommeliers Oceania is embarking on a national roadshow of Introductory and Advanced workshops.

The workshops are for sommeliers and hospitality professionals who are currently enrolled for certification from The Court of Master Sommeliers in 2019, or who are considering applying in the future.

Franck Moreau MS (Co-ordinator, Court of Master Sommeliers Oceania) noted: “If you have been considering applying for certification from The Court of Master Sommeliers then this is a terrific opportunity to gain a ‘taster’ without committing to the full Introductory Sommelier Certificate programme.” 

Introductory workshops will be held in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Hobart and Auckland; with Advanced workshops to be held in Sydney and Melbourne. Each session will cover the theoretical, service and tasting foundations which are essential for success at the highly prestigious examinations to be held by Court of Master Sommeliers in Australia and New Zealand in 2019.

Introductory Workshops will be held in Sydney on February 11, Brisbane on February 18, Melbourne on February 19, Auckland on March 2 and Hobart on July 1. 

Advanced Workshops will be held in Sydney on February 11 and Melbourne on February 19.

The Court of Master Sommeliers in Australia

The Court of Master Sommeliers The Court of Master Sommeliers was established in 1977 to promote excellence in hotel and restaurant beverage services, with the first Court of Master Sommelier courses held in Australia in 2008.

Since then, more than 1000 students in Australia have participated in the examinations, resulting in: 646 Introductory Sommelier graduates, 285 Certified Sommelier graduates and 37 Advanced Sommeliers.

Just six people have attained the title of Master Sommelier: Franck Moreau MS (Merivale), Sebastian Crowther MS (Real Wines), Benjamin Hasko MS (Luxury Beverage Group), Adrian Filiuta MS (Merivale), Jonathan Ross MS (Rockpool Dining Group) and Dorian Guillon MS (Vue de Monde).

Worldwide there are currently just 256 Sommeliers who have gained the highly-coveted title of Master Sommelier.
