More Sydney Venues Gain Trading Hour Extensions

The Brighton Hotel on Oxford Street is the latest live entertainment venue in the Sydney CBD to gain extended trading hours as part of the New South Wales Government’s plan to relax lockouts and last drinks restrictions.

The venue is the eleventh to have been approved to serve drinks until 3.30am since former NSW Premier Mike Baird announced the legislative changes in December 2016.

One of the criticisms of the laws were their impact on Sydney’s nightlife and on businesses being able to stay alive.

Minister for Racing Paul Toole said “The later trading and lockout times are giving patrons more entertainment options later at night and making Sydney’s nightlife more vibrant.”

Sydney CBD venue Scary Canary also recently gained an extension to admit patrons until 2am, but has been held to the 3am last drinks condition on its liquor licence.

Other venues that have been granted later trading include:
The Palace Hotel – CBD
Mr B’s Hotel – CBD
ArtHouse Hotel – CBD
Republic Hotel – CBD
Oxford Art Factory – Oxford Street
Stonewall Hotel – Oxford Street
World Bar – Kings Cross
O’Malley’s Hotel – Kings Cross
Observer Hotel – The Rocks
The Basement – Circular Quay
